Trip to Dia Beacon
by Emile Keller
On January 25, just a day after the Math A Regents Exam, several students were chosen to go on a trip to an art gallery located in upstate New York. Those students who were chosen to take part on this trip had to meet up with Ms. Wargo in front of the school at no later than 9:30. A couple of students showed up late, but after everyone was present, we took off to 125th Street to catch the Metro. During an hour-long ride that many would’ve thought to be bor- ing, we played some games to keep us entertained. When we arrived at Dia Beacon, we were welcomed by our tour guide and were separated in two groups. One group was coordinated by a tour guide with the assistance of Ms Girmay, and another one was coordinated by a tour guide along with the assistance of Ms. Wargo. During our tour around the art gallery, we saw beautiful masterpieces of some of the greatest painters, such as Andy Warhol. Inspired by these amazing art pieces, we hastily completed a writing exercise. After writing poems, we shared them and went to lunch. We were given delicious tongue- cutting sandwiches that definitely satisfied our hunger. “Food doesn’t get any better than this,” shouted a freshman as we were relaxing in the cafeteria. Since good things don’t last long, we started getting ready to head back to the Bronx. This trip was a wonderful experience to remember; we will remember it for a long period of time.
