Honors Society
The DY Prep Honor Society stimulates and challenges its high-achieving students by providing them with incentives and opportunities for improvement. Specifically, the DY Prep Honor Society motivates students to excel personally and academically, by offering them reward/educational trips, participating in community service trips, and visiting colleges. The Honor Society not only motivates its members, but it also motivates the entire student body at DY Prep because many students strive to meet the requirements needed to attain membership.
2007-2008
This Spring, the Honor Society took a trip to Philadelphia. During their time there, they visited several historical sites and toured at two prestigious Universities. Here is what some of them had to say about the trip:
"Philadelphia is the most historic city in the United States. We saw the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. The college visits were informative, and they helped us understand college life. We also went on the Lights of Liberty tour...We really enjoyed ourselves, and we would love to get more opportunities to visit different cities and their respective historical sites and colleges." - Edwin A. and Jay J.
"This trip has given me memories that I will cherish for life." -Jeseiky P.
"we visited Philadelphia University, a Liberal Arts school. Being there felt like being at a miniature DreamYard college. Like our school, Philadelphia University is a small school; it seems like the professors there will give their students lots of attention and it seems like they have a strong sense of community, just like DreamYard." - Emile K. and Anthony B.
"One of the colleges that we visited was Temple University. Most of us were amazed at how well structured the school was. We even got the chance to eat lunch in one of Temple's cafeterias. The students showed a lot of school spirit. Furthermore, they were very welcoming." - Tahiana U. and Aleida V.
The spring 2008 Honor Society trip to Philadelphia was made possible, in part, by generous support from the Friends of DY Prep.
